I believe that to truly see the wild, you have to be willing to wait for it.

My name is Todd Darling, and I am a nature and wildlife photographer based in the heart of the Great Lakes State. My work is rooted in a lifelong obsession with the rugged beauty and quiet mysteries of Michigan’s landscapes.

From the Upper Peninsula to Your Front Door

Whether I’m tracking the silent flight of a Great Gray Owl in the Upper Peninsula or capturing the first light hitting a frosted marsh in Southeast Michigan, my goal is the same: to document the raw, unscripted moments that most people miss. I specialize in fine art nature photography that brings the healing power of the outdoors into your home or office.

Conservation Through the Lens

For me, photography is more than just a hobby—it’s a form of environmental stewardship. I am a firm believer in ethical wildlife photography, meaning the safety and comfort of the animal always come before the shot.

By highlighting the incredible biodiversity found in the Michigan outdoors, I hope to inspire a deeper commitment to wildlife conservation. We only protect what we love, and we only love what we truly see.

Why I Do What I Do

I spend my mornings in the mud and my evenings chasing the “blue hour” because I believe the natural world is our greatest teacher. My portfolio is a collection of stories—of survival, of seasonal shifts, and of the stunning resilience of the wild.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me scouting new trails or advocating for the preservation of our local ecosystems.
